World-record rope bridge built with PFEIFER know-how

It's the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world. Mainly involved: an Austrian general contractor. And the essential components are from PFEIFER Seil- und Hebetechnik. The gigantic span of the leisure project is only possible thanks to the premium supplier's products.

Fun sport in the Harz Mountains

The Rappbode reservoir near Wernigerode in the Harz Mountains was completed this May. The construction of the fun sport facility started in autumn 2016 following a planning phase of about two years.

A superlative

It will be the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world with a span of 438 metres plus factor X, promises the general contractor HTB from Pitztal in Tyrol, Austria. The exact length will not be announced until the opening. The previously unequalled record length is certain, however.

Exciting teamwork

For Michael Stadler, managing director of PFEIFER Seil- und Hebetechnik Austria, the project is one of the most exciting in recent times: "The tension rod system for the anchoring at both ends of the bridge is from us, as are all the suspension and wind ropes. Not only that, we also brought along our expertise right from the planning phase of this record project."

Gliding to an adrenalin kick

Also from PFEIFER: the wire ropes for the carriages with which adventure sportsmen and women race from the bridge to the valley, getting a big shot of adrenalin in the process. That also explains the name of the company "Harzadrenalin UG" in Elbingerode.

Long-standing connection

The connecting link in the system chain between PFEIFER and the general contractor HTB is Falkner Maschinenbau from Roppen, near the Pitztal. The company specialises in challenges like this and is a long-standing cooperation partner of PFEIFER.
