PFEIFER Covertex moves into new premises in Shanghai
Modern offices close to the old location now house Administration, Marketing, Project Management, and Engineering. Production and Quality Management have moved to a considerably larger production hall in the southwest of the city, easy to reach from the new headquarters. “After the move we will attract more qualified employees from the city center we desperately need for our international operations. The new production hall – and the large floors, free of colums are ideal for packaging membranes and foils,” Business Unit Head Christian Schlögl says. PFEIFER acquired Covertex two years ago. It is now part of the Cable Structures business unit specializing in light-weight construction. The Chinese company is a market leader in the engineering, fabrication, and installation of structural membranes made of PTFE, PVC and ETFE. PFEIFER Covertex was involved in building the National Stadium in Beijing, one of its highest profile projects. Known as the Bird’s Nest, the stadium achieved worldwide fame during the Summer Olympics 2008. The Chinese membrane experts also fabricated the membranes on the newly renovated roof of the Mercedes Benz Arena in Stuttgart, which were installed by PFEIFER.
