Rotation resistant ropes generate a reduced torque under load. This effect is achieved by opposite directions of lay of at least two strand layers, which are twisted around the core. Typical examples are rope constructions such as 18x7 and 17x7. These types of ropes should never be used in combination with swivels or without rotation locks to avoid considerable personal injury and property damage.
